Blocked Drains Maryland
Maryland Plumbing Co clears blocked drains in Maryland, from a kitchen sink holding water to a sewer pushing waste back up through the shower. Licensed plumbers do the work with a jetter or an eel, and a drain camera films the pipe before and after so you see what caused it.

Why Do the Drains Here Keep Blocking?
Old clay in the early stages
Land that falls to low corners
Rain that arrives all at once
What the Drain Crew Covers
Drains sit beside hot water, gas and urgent work at Maryland Plumbing Co. This part of the team handles:
- Sinks, showers, basins and laundry tubs that are slow or fully stopped
- Sewer lines choked by roots, silt or a broken section
- Yard pits, grated drains and downpipe connections
- Filming the line as part of every clear
- No-dig relining for a cracked pipe under a garden or driveway

CCTV Drain Inspection
Evidence before repairs. A camera on a flexible rod shows whether a repeat choke is roots, a sag or a cracked collar, so the repair is chosen from evidence.
Drain Jetting
Scouring, not poking. Pressurised water strips grease, sludge and root hairs from the whole bore so the line is left clean.
Blocked Sewer
The main line out. If the toilet, shower and laundry all misbehave at once, the choke sits in the pipe carrying everything to the street.
Stormwater Drains
Roof and yard water. Spilling pits, soggy lawns and gutters that overflow in a downpour all point at the stormwater run.
Pipe Relining
A pipe inside the pipe. Resin cured in place seals the cracked joints roots were using, and the garden above stays untouched.
Tree Root Removal
Cut out, then checked. The root mass comes out of the line, and filming afterwards shows whether its entry point needs closing.
How Is a Drain Clear Priced?
We provide up-front, honest quotes that will always match the final price, should you decide to go ahead.
On drain work the figure hangs on:
- Where the opening is An inspection point in the open yard means a short set-up; a line that can only be reached from under the house means more time before the clearing starts.
- The pipe Clay, earthenware, PVC and galvanised each need different heads, pressures and fittings.
- What is in there Fat and soap wash out in one pass; a thick root mass or a broken section turns into a bigger job with a lasting fix on offer.

Drains That Belong to Someone Else
When we're not the right call. Once a blockage sits in the sewer main beyond your front boundary, Hunter Water fixes it, and the call goes to them. Tell us where the water is coming up, and the plumber can say whose pipe it is before anyone is booked.
What Customers Say
Woke up Friday to find my two kitchen sinks backed up. … Possibly tree roots from backyard neighbours.
Where Drains Meet the Rest of the Plumbing
A drain problem can point at other work:
gutter guards
Trees dropping roots into a sewer also drop leaves into the gutters, so gutter guards are worth pricing on a leafy block.
water leak detection
A slow drain plus a soggy patch of lawn that never dries may be a leaking supply pipe, which is water leak detection work.
emergency plumber
Sewage coming up inside the house right now is an emergency plumber job.
strata and real estate
Rentals and strata properties get the same clearing, with the tenant routine on the strata and real estate page.
Blocked Drain Maryland FAQs
How do I know if the blockage is in the sewer or the stormwater line?
Look at where the water turns up: a sewer choke shows indoors, with a gurgling pan and a floor waste that fills when the washing machine drains. A stormwater choke shows in the yard, with pits spilling and puddles that stay after the rain stops. Filming the line confirms which one you have.
Will clearing the drain fix it for good?
On a sound pipe, yes. If roots have opened a clay joint or part of the line has slumped, the choke builds again, and the footage taken after the clear shows that. Relining or digging out the bad section is then the permanent answer, with both priced side by side.
Do you use chemicals to clear drains?
No. Water jetting or the electric eel does the clearing, with footage of the pipe taken first and last. Caustic cleaners may loosen soap scum but leave roots and cracks exactly where they were, and they are hard on old clay.
Who pays if the fault is out on the street?
Anything wrong with the sewer main past your front boundary is Hunter Water's responsibility, so the repair out there is not yours to fund. The pipes between that point and the house are the owner's, and that is the stretch we quote on.
